What's New for the 2019 Toyota Camry?

For the 2019 model year, few changes were made on the perennially best-selling Toyota Camry, which started its eighth production cycle the year before. The 2019 Toyota Camry is available in five trims: L, LE, XLE, SE, and XSE. Normally, the workhorse that the 2019 Toyota Camry relies on is a 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine that puts out 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. With the top-of-the-line XSE trim, however, that same engine is tweaked to produce 206 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque for more output. Also, the XLE and the XSE are the only trims that give you the option of getting 3.5-liter V6 for an output of 301 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque instead. Regardless of the power source, the 2019 Camry has its engine joined with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Two rows are present to seat up to five people in a cabin that provides a passenger space of up to 100.4 cubic feet and a cargo volume of 15.1 cubic feet. Standard comfort and convenience features include remote keyless entry, a 4.2-inch TFT multimedia display screen, a six-speaker stereo system, AM/FM radio, the Scout® GPS app for navigation, the Siri® Eyes Free virtual assistant, Entune™ multimedia integration, Bluetooth® hands-free phone operation and audio streaming, a three-year trial subscription to Safety Connect®, an audio jack and a USB port, a six-month trial subscription to Wi-Fi Connect with up to 2 GB of data, and a 7-inch touchscreen.

The 2019 model year marks the debut of Apple CarPlay™ for smartphone integration and Amazon Alexa for controlling or executing functions such as playing music and reading the news with voice commands. If you upgrade from the base-level model, you increase your chances of getting additions or enhancements such as leatherette or leather seat trim, heated front seats, front-seat 8-way power adjustability, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, wireless charging ability, a 7-inch TFT multimedia display screen, 10-inch color head-up display, nine-speaker audio, two or three USB charge-only ports, HD Radio™, a single-disc CD player, a three-month trial subscription to SiriusXM® satellite radio, and an 8-inch touchscreen.

The 2019 Toyota Camry gets most of its safety features grouped into two suites: Toyota Safety Sense™ P, which includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, and automatic high beams; and Star Safety System™, which consists of vehicle stability and traction control, smart stop technology, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, brake assist, and electronic brake-force distribution. Also standard are a rearview camera, hill start assist control, an engine immobilizer as an anti-security measure when combined with remote keyless entry, ToyotaCare for providing free roadside assistance and vehicle maintenance, and ten airbags (dual front impact, dual front seat-mounted side-impact, dual front seat-facing knee, and dual front and dual rear side curtain airbags). You are more likely to get additional safety features such as rear-cross traffic alert, a blind spot monitor, a bird’s-eye camera (instead of the rearview one) and a panic alarm added on the theft-deterrent system if you upgrade from the Camry’s base-level trim.
